Five-spoke 16″ wheels were manufactured using a squeeze-casting process to reduce weight and are mounted with 225/50 Yokohama YK520 tires showing 2010 and 2011 date codes. Bilstein shock absorbers and firmer springs were fitted to all R1-equipped cars. Braking is handled by Mazda-branded four-piston front and single-piston rear calipers.
