The body-color artillery-style wheels wear chrome trim rings and center caps and are mounted with 6.00–16 Firestone bias-ply tires. A matching spare wheel with an older bias-ply tire is mounted in the trunk. The Model 78 rode on a 112″ wheelbase and featured transverse front and rear leaf springs. Stopping power is provided by hydraulically-actuated drums at all four corners.
